'Nobody gets fired for saying a curse word': Ex-ABC7 co-host Ken Rosato's firing sparks rumors of network looking to oust him before dismissal

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ABC7 has recently come under fire for reportedly firing a long-serving anchor Ken Rosato. The anchor's 20-year-long stint of serving the news channel alongside legendary news reporter Sam Champion ended earlier this month. Rosato was the anchor of the WAQBC/7 morning broadcast alongside Shirleen Allicot. However, an insider claimed that ABC might have targeted Ken before he made a derogatory remark against his co-host on the hot mic.

Rosato, 56, who suddenly went missing from the show, sparked speculations before an explanation behind his disappearance from the show was revealed by an insider. According to an insider, Rosato was fired for his vulgar remark to his co-host Allicot. Though the real reason behind his firing was unveiled later, an insider claims that Ken might have been under the radar of the network prior to his dismissal.

Ken Rosato was fired from ABC7 after 20 years for using taboo word against co-anchor Shireen Allicot

Did ABC target Ken Rosato?

WABC/7’s ex-co-host Rosato’s time has been up after his hot mic incident. While the real reason behind his dismissal was revealed later, an insider asserts he may have had a target on his back, which led to his firing. After Rosato's expulsion, many insiders echoed their sentiments by firing back at the network station and said, "The station has been going for younger, less expensive talent,” The Sun reported.

However, one source confirmed that Rosato had his contract renewed months before his firing, regardless of the raging rumors about the network wanting him out. An insider argued, "ABC had just renewed his contract. He still had plenty of time.” Of course, if ABC wanted him out, they wouldn’t have renewed his contract, not to mention wait for the incident to occur. Also, his contract was renewed under the guidance of ABC’s local news flagship director Scott Matthews.

Another insider also corroborated his contract renewal. However, they added that his firing over a vulgar word could have been more convenient. They continued, "Nobody gets fired for saying a curse word. Yes, it was terrible what he said, and he shouldn't have said it, but people don't get fired for using the C word.” Meanwhile, a representative for Ken chose not to comment.

Ken Rosato’s 20 years of service ended with a C-word

Ken Rosato, who extensively covered New York City with ABC7 news for 20 years, was fired from the network earlier this month. Nobody revealed the reason behind his firing until an insider explained it to the viewers. "It was the C word that got him fired; he said it on the hot mic, off-air,” the insider revealed. Ken reportedly called his co-host Shirleen Allicot a c**t. He was immediately let go from his position after the incident and hasn’t been seen on the show. Also, the network hasn’t disclosed the remark that got him fired while informing their employees about Rosato's firing. A general manager at the ABC told the staff that the anchor is “no longer with WABC” through an internal email and added, “We thank him for his years of service.”
