KANSAS CITY, MISSOURIE: Taylor Lautner finally got the tickets to Eras Tour. The ‘Twilight’ star was seen enjoying a Taylor Swift concert on July 7 with his wife Taylor Dome, who goes by the name Tay Dome. During an interview at SiriusXM, the beloved werewolf of the screen, Lautner previously expressed his desire to attend one of the concerts in Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour as Tay Dome is a self-proclaimed “diehard Swiftie.”
In a show of solidarity with Swift, whom he dated briefly in 2009, Lautner attended the Kansas City concert of the tour. Coincidentally, the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer’s third re-release album, ‘Speak Now,’ is also launching on the same day. Lautner, 31, was accompanied by his wife Tay Dome as they attended the musical night. Taylor Swift also announced the music video 'I Can See You' in collaboration with Taylor Lautner and Joey King. The Taylors hilariously even re-created the Spiderman meme too.
While the Grammy-winning music megastar and the teen heartthrob were once a thing, they parted ways amicably. But the question remains in the minds of fans why did Taylor and Taylor break up?
‘He liked her more than she liked him’
When Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner broke up, a source close to them said to US Weekly, “He liked her more than she liked him. He went everywhere he could to see her, but she didn’t travel much to see him.” The source further added, “They decided they were better as friends.”
At the same time, another source said to People, “It was never a big deal to begin with. The media made way more out of it than it is. They went out on a few dates and realized this was just not going anywhere.” Another source also opined that the two stars’ different dwelling cities caused further rift, saying, “They became good friends and then went out a few times, but he lives in LA and she lives in Nashville and their busy schedules kept it from becoming more than it was.”
‘It’s just necessary’
Whatever the case, it left a huge impact on Swift. In October 2010, she released her third studio album ‘Speak Now’ which contained a dedicatory track to Lautner, ‘Back to December’. During that time, she said to Yahoo! Music, “Up until now, I haven’t really felt like I really needed to apologize to someone,” before adding poignantly, “It’s just necessary.”
Swift sings in ‘Back to December,’ “You gave me roses and I left them there to die / So this is me swallowin’ my pride / Standin’ in front of you sayin’ I’m sorry for that night / And I go back to December all the time.” The ‘Bad Blood’ singer also sang of Lautner’s “tan skin” and “sweet smile.” She further reminisced about the “beautiful times” they spent in the summer of 2009.
About the track, Swift told USA Today during that time, “It’s almost word-for-word. It is a song and a conversation that needed to happen because I don’t want to hurt people. If you unintentionally do so, you’ve got to make that better.”
The ‘Cruel Summer’ crooner continued, “I feel so comfortable singing about these details and these relationships and listing times, dates, details, names. But when it comes to an interview and they say, ‘Are you dating this person?’ or ‘Did you date this person?’ or ‘What’s your current relationship status?’ I suddenly feel very shy.”
Lautner too accepted that ‘Back to December’ was about him. During a Facebook Live in 2016, his ‘Scream Queens’ co-star Lea Michele asked, “Didn’t she write a song about you?” To which the ‘Home Team’ star replied, “That’s what she does,” before adding, “She writes songs.”
When Michele continued, “I think it’s something about a sweater and a hat, right? … It’s like, your hat in December!” Lautner replied, “It’s called ‘Back to December.’”

Seeing Lautner at the concert, fans have gone berserk on the internet. One fan commented, "Taylor lautner doing a backflip on taylor swift’s stage was not on my 2023 bingo card." Another added, "Taylor Lautner had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever (show up at the eras tour the day that speak now tv is released) and he took it."
