Who was Nate Kuhlman? Ohio newlywed dies in tragic waterskiing accident in Caribbean during honeymoon

CONNECTICUT, OHIO: Nate and Mariana Kuhlman, an Ohio couple's Caribbean honeymoon turned a tragedy when the husband died in a waterskiing accident.

The tragic incident took place three days after the Steubenville couple tied the knot on October 28, reported the New York Post. According to a GoFundMe page, they traveled to St Lucia following their marriage.

Nate Khulman was described as a 'wonderful' person

The fundraiser said, "Nate was a wonderful husband, friend, son, and brother in Christ."

He was an alumnus of Steubenville's Franciscan University.

The newlywed groom "was able to thoughtfully encounter every person he met and those who had the blessing of a relationship with him would be able to tell a list of stories detailing what a fun, kind, and adventurous soul he was."

"Nate tragically lost his life three days after his wedding,” read the GoFundMe page.

"Words cannot describe the heartbreak there is for his story and for his family. We kindly ask for help to assist for funeral cost and travel of the family," the page added.

Following Kuhlman's death, a second GoFundMe page was also set up, and it stated, "Donations will help cover the expenses of last-minute plane tickets to St Lucia and back home, immediate passport issuing, transportation, accommodations, meals, funeral arrangements, Mariana’s needs, and anything else that comes up."

"Please also pray for the families, for their strength, and that God’s presence fill their hearts," the fundraiser added.

As of Tuesday morning, November 7, the two GoFundMe pages have raised more than $100,000 combined.

Mourning the loss of her son, Nate's grieving mother, Heather Kuhlman wrote on Facebook that she was traveling to St Lucia where her son died.

"Just landed at JFK and then will head to St Lucia," Heather updated at the time.

"Nate’s death took all of us by surprise and just took our breath away," Heather wrote.

"By God’s grace, we are ok. It’s so hard and painful, but we are walking each day one moment at a time," Heather added.

She further added that her faith is helping her family in coping with the tragic situation.

"I am sad that Nathaniel is no longer here with us, but I know he is very much alive in heaven and will be praying for us," Heather wrote.

"Please keep us in your prayers as we bring Nate home,” she added in her last post," she added.
