KAUAI, HAWAII: An investigation has been relaunched into the death case of a woman named Amber Jackson, whose body was discovered over a decade ago in a canyon in a deserted wooded area in Kealia. The 57-year-old from Kapahi was reported missing in June 2010 after she failed to show up for dinner with her friends.

However, on July 3, the search for her took an unfortunate turn when her remains were found. Jackson’s friend, Teri Ceplo, said as reported by KHON2, “The next day, there was a full-on search party of detectives, KPD, volunteer canines, and a search party that searched the whole Kahuna Road area, and nothing, nothing was found.”

She continued, “Her body was also found on the east side. It’s a very remote area called Kealia. We wanted her body to be found to be quite honest because it to us would give us closure.” Eventually, it was revealed that she died because of blunt-force trauma to her head and also had injuries due to an assault.

As per reports, Jackson originally belonged from Riverside, California. But she started living in Hawaii after visiting the place for a holiday. She was living a good life before the tragedy happened. Bryson Ponce, Investigative Services Bureau Assistant Chief for KPD, reportedly once said while commenting on the tragedy, “She was probably drug there and left there. It appeared that it was more of a body dump and the crime scene happened somewhere else.”

Now, her case has been reopened by Kauai’s Investigative Services Bureau, Ceplo expressed her hopefulness. She shared, “The lack of closure that nobody has been arrested for her murder, which was quite brutal and it’s still unresolved,” before mentioning the detective who’s working on the mystery. She stated, “Bryan Silva, and he’s been wonderful. There’s advances in DNA testing, and that’s promising and so I can 100 per cent say that friends and family, we are feeling more hopeful than we have in 13 years.”

‘We know that someone out there has information’

The friend also added, “We are thankful to the Kauai Police Department that they have kept engaged, you know, telling us that the case has been reopened that that’s wonderful because Amber’s case was actually a cold case for quite a few years.”

Besides, reports have said that Jackson’s family has also announced a reward of $20,000 for any tip that would result in her murder(s) arrest. A statement from her nephew Matt Alexander read, “We are still grieving our beloved Amber’s senseless and brutal murder and we are not giving up. We know that someone out there has information that could help solve the case. If you or someone you know has information that could shed light on the murder of Amber Jackson, please come forward.”
