DORSET, VERMONT: On Monday, June 12, 'Everwood' actor Treat Williams, 71, died in a motorcycle accident in Vermont. Williams was hit by a car around 5 pm while riding his motorcycle on Route 30 close to Dorset, confirmed his agency and the local police. On Monday evening, Williams' long-time agent, Barry McPherson, confirmed the actor's death to People.
Ryan M Koss has been identified as the driver who was responsible for causing an accident that led to Williams' tragic death. However, the tragic incident has not yet resulted in any arrests by the Vermont State Police. Williams' agent, McPherson, told People, "He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off. I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented."
Who is Ryan Koss?
Ryan Koss, 35, of Pownal, Vermont, who was driving a 2008 Honda Element at the time, was named by police as the driver who struck the actor. Koss was hurt in the crash, albeit just slightly. According to the Daily Mail, an inquiry is still going on even though no one had been detained as of Monday night.
What happened during the crash?
According to Vermont State Police, a Honda Element was trying to make a left turn into a parking lot on Vermont Route 30 at Morse Hill Road at about 4.53 on Monday. As per the authorities, the car allegedly crossed Richard Treat Williams' motorcycle's path as it was turning.
Vermont police said, "The crash occurred at about 4:53 p.m. Monday on Vermont Route 30 just north of Morse Hill Road when a southbound 2008 Honda Element driven by Ryan M. Koss, 35, of Pownal, Vermont, attempted to turn left into a parking lot. Initial investigation indicates the Element stopped, signaled a left turn, and then turned into the path of a northbound 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle operated by Williams."
According to the police, Williams was flung off his motorcycle after being unable to prevent a collision. He was taken to Albany Medical Center with serious wounds, where he was later declared dead. Koss only suffered minor wounds.
"Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead. Koss was checked by medical personnel at the scene for minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital," added the investigating officers of Vermont.

Williams had a long and prosperous career, appearing in TV programs like 'Prince of the City' and '1941' by Steven Spielberg. He also appeared in 'Chesapeake Shores' and 'Blue Bloods'. Williams had more than 120 credits in theater, film, and television.
