POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA: A man from Florida, who had previously served time for murder, was arrested once more. This time, he is accused of assaulting a teenager involved in a dispute with his son by allegedly throwing punches, according to authorities.
Jarrett Garrett McCabe, 47, faces charges of simple battery following an incident on Tuesday, November 7.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that he confronted two boys at a bus stop and allegedly slapped one of them in the face.
The victim had fought with McCabe’s son several weeks ago
The 16-year-old victim had engaged in a physical altercation with McCabe's son a few weeks prior to the incident, according to deputies.
A different boy had a confrontation with McCabe's son on Monday, but both he and his mother issued apologies to McCabe and his son later that day, as mentioned in the statement.
McCabe, on the other hand, asserted that he had been informed by a neighbor that the two boys had assaulted his son on Monday. Deputies stated that based on this information, McCabe decided to handle the situation personally.
Subsequently, he arrived at the bus stop near David Street on Tuesday. McCabe reportedly waited to observe whether the boys would initiate another altercation with his son.
Nevertheless, when the boys disembarked from the bus, McCabe reportedly confronted them, and according to reports, he allegedly slapped one of the teens who had previously been involved in a fight with his son.
According to one report, in addition to receiving punches to the face, the victim was also struck twice in the stomach.

The statement mentioned that a DoorDash delivery driver witnessed McCabe punching the boy in the face and delivering two blows to the stomach.
“It’s understandable that a dad would be upset about his son getting jumped. But waiting at a bus stop to beat up a kid is not the kind of example you want to be setting for your child,” Sheriff Grady Judd said.

McCabe has a violent criminal history, with previous convictions for second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, and shooting/throwing a deadly missile into a building or vehicle, said the statement.
Reportedly, Florida prison records indicate that McCabe was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 1997 for killing a man during a drug deal. However, he was released in 2004 after serving six years and 11 months, as reported by Fox News.
McCabe posted a $500 bond for a simple battery, according to the records.
