MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE: In a case that shocked the community of New Hampshire, George Theberge, 45, has been sentenced to at least one year in prison.

On Monday, August 14, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child endangerment after he was accused of helping Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley's adopted daughter Alexandra Eckersley, 26, to abandon her newborn son in freezing woods, reported Daily Mail.

Who is George Theberge?

Alexandra reportedly told authorities that Theberge was her boyfriend. Shortly after the 26-year-old woman gave birth to her son on Christmas Day 2022, she left the child inside a tent in a wooded area.

According to authorities, the infant was unclothed when discovered which prompted concerns for his well-being amidst the harsh conditions of temperatures plummeting to a chilling 15 degrees Fahrenheit that night.

The MLB legend's daughter has a history of mental illness. Authorities stated that she appeared to be under the influence of drugs when confronted.

She allegedly misled the authorities for around an hour regarding the infant's whereabouts. Eventually, the baby was found alive near a footpath in the woods.

What are the charges against George Theberge?

Theberge was arrested weeks after the newborn was found. He was charged with one count each of felony tampering with a witness, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless conduct.

He will also spend an additional six months in prison in connection to violating probation from his arrest in January and also a drug charge.
