Who is Clayton Garcia? New Mexico man claims he killed his father so he 'could go to Valhalla'

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO: Clayton Garcia, 25, is facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his father Jorge Garcia, an Albuquerque Police Department press release stated,

The fatal incident took place at their residence on Madeira Drive NE in the Fair West neighborhood of Albuquerque on September 23.

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, officers responded to a distressing report on that fateful day.

Clayton's Garcia's fatal altercation with his father

The report indicated an altercation between the father-son duo.

Upon arrival, the first responding officers witnessed a startling sight. Clayton Garcia, the defendant in this case, was seen using a hose to wash his feet, according to Law&Crime.com.

As officers approached Clayton Garcia, he told them of the altercation he just had with his 74-year-old father. Clayton went on to provide a shocking account of the events that transpired.

He claimed that his father had reached inside a vehicle, threatening to murder him. In response, Clayton physically confronted his father.

“He reached in through the window, said he was going to murder me, so I kicked his ass,” the defendant allegedly told police.

Jorge Garcia succumbed to his injuries the next day

Jorge Garcia was discovered on the ground, partially positioned underneath a vehicle. Given the severity of his injuries, he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

He was listed in critical condition and succumbed to the injuries the next day.

As the investigation progressed, Clayton provided further details regarding the fatal altercation. He explained that his father had become agitated due to Clayton's loud behavior after returning home from a party.

This led to a heated argument in which Jorge Garcia yelled and screamed at his son. In response to the escalating tension, Clayton decided to leave the residence.

“Clayton said that he got into the Pontiac and his father came out yelling at him,” the complaint reads.

“His father told him that it was his vehicle. Clayton said that he rolled down the window a bit and gave the keys to his father. Clayton’s father then broke the window and yelled at him. Clayton yelled at him that he did not want to murder him. Clayton’s father yelled back.”

Clayton explained further that his father had punched him in the face and forcibly removed him through the broken car window, gripping his shirt and necklaces.

Clayton Garcia's chilling confession

Clayton disclosed that after falling out of the Pontiac's window, he kicked his father in the neck. Jorge Garcia, according to Clayton's statement, appeared to collapse and become unresponsive.

Even then Clayton Garcia allegedly continued to kick his father. He claimed that he saw his father "aspirating" blood from his neck, but he persisted because he believed his father wanted "Clayton to kill him so that he could go to Valhalla."

In a shocking revelation, Clayton admitted that his father had expressed a desire for this violent outcome.

“Clayton also stated that he needed his father to die because dying in a fight was the only way for him to get to ‘Valhalla,'” the complaint reads.

The detective later wrote: “Clayton advised that Jorge had been trying to fight Clayton for years and wanting Clayton to kill him so that he could go to Valhalla but Clayton never wanted to.”

Following this chilling confession, Clayton Garcia retreated into the house they had shared.

He retrieved his father's favorite travel mug, which featured "hieroglyphic designs." In an astonishing twist, Clayton hurled the mug at his father's lifeless body with great force.

However, the mug rebounded off the deceased man. Undeterred, Clayton retrieved the mug once more and placed it next to his father.

Clayton Garcia reasoned that if his father was destined for Valhalla, he would want to take that specific mug with him on his journey.

He was arrested and charged after these revelationss. He faces one count each of first-degree murder, aggravated battery against a household member resulting in great bodily harm, and tampering with evidence.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 28.
