What is Anne Hathaway's net worth? 'Devil Wears Prada' actress recalls being told her career would be over at 35

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Anne Hathaway, one of the highest-paid actors in the entertainment industry with an estimated net worth of $80 million, revealed that she was warned her "career would fall off a cliff at the age of 35."

The 'Devil Wears Prada' star recently talked to Porter Magazine, recalling the initial stage of her career and the decades-long journey in Hollywood.

The 41-year-old actor kicked off her career in 2001 at the age of 19, portraying the role of the Princess of Genovia, Mia Thermopolis, in 'The Princess Diaries'.

The coming-of-age film paved a strong foundation for Hathaway's entry to Hollywood, as The New York Times' Elvis Mitchell called her a "royalty in the making."

Anne Hathaway defies the warnings of her career falling at a certain age

The Academy Award winner has evolved her career in two decades, becoming a prominent figure in Hollywood. She confidently defied the warnings she received as a teenager stepping into showbiz through several cult movies.

"When I started out [in this industry] as a child, I was warned that my career would fall off a cliff at the age of 35, which is something I know a lot of women face," Hathaway told Porter Magazine. "The thing that has evolved during [that time] is that more women are having careers deeper into their lives, which I think is fantastic."

She further added that there is still room for progress. "Obviously, it doesn't mean we should have a ticker-tape parade – someone said this to me the other day: 'There's so much to be proud of, and there's so much to fix'."

Anne Hathaway is grateful for having the chance to take new risks

Even after entering her forties, the 'Les Misérables' star still works with the same team she has had since the beginning of her career. "There's really good seasoning on the pan in a lot of the relationships in my life, and I feel like I'm still growing."

Despite critically acclaimed success, Hathaway does not take anything for granted; instead, she is grateful for being "invited back to the table" with new chances to take risks.

She is not only happy with her professional life but with her personal life, too. Her family includes her husband, actor-producer Adam Shulman, and their two children.

Hathaway is in no mood to stop; she has turned her goal into an "ultramarathon" of her career. "I've always been really upfront about being an ambitious person. I have goals, I have dreams; they don't look much different than they did when I was [younger], but I'm still pursuing them," said the actress.

Her upcoming movies include the psychological thriller 'Eileen' which will hit theatres on December 1, 'Mothers' Instinct', 'The Idea of You', and 'Mother Mary'.
