LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘The View' co-host Joy Behar has taken her opinion on the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) all the way to Twitter. Recently, the Supreme Court of the United States struck down President Joe Biden’s plan, which would have relieved college students of their debt. This program would have cost the American government close to $400 billion, as per NBC News.
Now, this ruling is most definitely debatable. There is a long discourse around it and Behar has decided to be a part of it too. ‘The View’ co-host has labeled SCOTUS ''a court of grifters". The internet hasn’t responded too well to Behar after she shared her opinion on the ruling. Social media users haven’t held back on stating their opinion on Behar either. Behar doesn’t always share her opinions on social media, but when she does, there’s definitely some kind of an impact or backlash.
‘This court of grifters’
After the SCOTUS' ruling to strike down Biden’s debt relief program, Behar took to Twitter to express her opinion on the issue and wrote, "So this court of GRIFTERS has decided that they can take a pay off, but people who are still paying off college loans into their 40’s will never get help from the government.”
Behar, 80, is not very active on social media and is mostly seen retweeting on Twitter. She is not frequent on her Instagram either. In fact, her last post on the platform was over two years ago. Naturally, when Behar expressed her opinions, people had a lot to say. The social media users also took this opportunity to mention ‘The View’ where Behar is the senior-most co-host with some very strong opinions.
‘I pit you, Joy’
The response to Behar’s tweet has ranged from angry responses to mocking the co-host and also explaining why she is incorrect. One Twitter user wrote, “What is it like to be bitter and angry every single day of your life? It must be hell. I pity you "Joy.""” Another person said “Specious, un-factual, whiny and what I always expect from you.”
Slamming Behar's talk show, one social media user wrote, “No one made them go to college that was their choice they took out the loan they pay it back not your average American citizen. You and all the people that are moaning & groaning could all pitch in and pay it for them I hear The View makes big $$$.”
Another wrote, “Hahahahahha cry more. Can't wait till your show gets canceled.” One user also pointed out that Behar is meant to be a "role model" for younger women as they tweeted, “You're supposed to be a role model for young women. Grow up....” Slamming Behar, one social media user asked, “Professional grifter says what?” Behar has continued to retweet since but hasn’t responded to any of the comments on this particular tweet.
