'The icon that you are': Kid Cudi hailed for sharing photos from pro-Palestinian rally

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rapper Kid Cudi expressed support for Palestine by sharing photos of himself at a pro-Palestinian rally. On November 25, Cudi took to Instagram to share two photos of him at a rally with the caption, "Always for the youth."

In one photo, he is seen high-fiving a boy holding a Palestinian flag. The second image is apparently from the rally, where a placard reads "VIVA VIVA PALESTINA."

The post has garnered more than 250K likes within ten hours.

Israel and Hamas earlier entered a four-day-truce deal, which started on November 24. As part of the deal, Hamas has agreed to release 50 hostages they took captive on October 7. Two batches of the hostages were released on the first two days of the ceasefire.

Kid Cudi has been a strong Palestine supporter

Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, has also spoken out in support of Palestinians.

On November 5, the Cleveland native shared a lengthy Instagram post calling for a ceasefire and "an end to the ongoing genocide" in Gaza. He started sharing his heartbreak due to the news he had been seeing over the days.

"I can't watch what's happening in the world and remain silent," he wrote.

"I can't imagine the pain people are feeling. Seeing their entire neighborhoods bombed, losing generations of family members, parents crying over their children's lifeless bodies, communities turning into mass graves, people digging through rubble of their homes in hopes of finding remains of their loved ones," he noted.

He continued the post, saying it "doesn't feel right to share the music" and "pretend like there isn't a part of the world burning, thousands of people being murdered." Cudi said he was okay with people disagreeing with him, and as a "Black man," he will stand against "all forms of oppression," and being an artist, he feels "responsible to give a voice to the unheard."

The rapper also condemned the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, but said the "collective punishment Palestinians are suffering under Israel's illegal occupation is unfathomable. Anti-Semitism is never welcome. But let's be clear – supporting Palestinian liberation is not antisemitic, it's human. Palestinians deserve their freedom."

He ended the post by saying he stands with "the people of Palestine as they demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the ongoing genocide. My heart goes out to all my brothers and sisters of all faiths and backgrounds who are suffering. Free Palestine!! With love Scott."

His post came after a host of artists signed an open letter calling Joe Biden for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
