LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are all set to exchange hits and fists in the third installment of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Deadpool’. In the long-anticipated sequel, Reynolds and Jackman are expected to pick up their enmity from where they left off at the climax of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. The 2009 film was significant for pitting Reynolds’ Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool) against Jackman’s Logan (aka Wolverine).

‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ may have introduced Wade Wilson to the cinematic world, but it is still considered one of the most ill-received superhero movies of all time. During an appearance at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, the ‘Free Guy’ star recently addressed the failure of the movie, and jokingly blamed Jackman for turning it into an "absolute trash fire," according to Variety. "Everyone’s expecting me to eviscerate Hugh Jackman," Reynolds said, adding, "But, I will say he was one of the first movie stars I ever worked with, back in 2007, on an absolute trash fire called X-Men Origins: Wolverine – that one was on him."

'F**k that guy'

After dissecting the fake rivalry, Reynolds had nothing but praise for Jackman as an actor and a person. "What struck me about him was just he was so kind. He was one of the first people I watched at that level that treated the caterer the same way as the director or the producer or the head of the studio. He just treated everyone the same," the 'Self/less' actor stated. Reynolds also explained, “I think Hugh Jackman is probably responsible for a lot of better people who work in the weird and wonderful world of show business. So yeah.” He added, joking, "So yeah. Also, f**k that guy."

'I think it's a tightrope walk'

Currently, Reynolds and Jackman are gearing up to co-star in 'Deadpool 3', which begins shooting this summer. The 'X-Men' star, who will reprise his role as Wolverine, recently gave fans a peek at the 8,500-calorie diet he eats every day to stay in shape. He revealed that he gave himself six months to build a physique like a classic claw hero. "I've learned you can't rush it," Jackman said. "I've learned that it takes time." While in the weight room, Jackman also made some light-hearted jabs at Reynolds, saying he's "winning" at being in the best superhero condition.

In a recent interview, Reynolds talked about how difficult it was to pull together this historic collaboration. "I think it's a tightrope walk. I mean most of these movies are always a tightrope walk of tone, so in this instance, though, you have a collision of two pretty iconic characters that exist in the Marvel Ancillary Universe [laughs] — we're in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point,” he told The Wrap. The actor added, “It's really kind of finding a way to service both of these characters that feels extraordinarily authentic to each of them, and I think these two wrongs actually will make a right in a pretty great way."
