Rod Stewart leaves 'toxic' US as his wife Penny condemns 'nuisance' lifestyle and lack of privacy

ESSEX, LONDON: Rod Stewart has reportedly said a final goodbye to his once-adopted country, the US. The legendary singer-songwriter has left the ‘nation of dreamers’ after his wife Penny Lancaster grew ‘sick of their nuisance’ lifestyle. As per the latest report, the artist is set to sell his $70 million mansion in Beverly Hills. He had complained earlier that the area has no ‘privacy’ anymore.

The ‘Young Turks’ singer along with his wife and their two sons, Alastair, 17, and Aiden Patrick, 12, lives in their Essex mansion now and is likely to continue living there. Rod returned to his native country the UK in 2016, for a more simple house compared to a lavish European-style mansion in Los Angeles. It is believed that Penny is exhausted from constant travel between the US and the UK. She wants to concentrate on her dream job as a volunteer police officer in London for the past two years.

'Penny loves the life she has made away from America'

The 52-year-old doesn’t want to experience the ‘nuisance’ of constant commuting between Los Angeles and London. The source said, “Penny loves the life she has made away from America and away from LA. She enjoys nothing more than working for the police force.” Rod is unlikely to buy another mansion after the Beverly Hills house, as per reports. The rock icon brought the property back in 1991 for $12 million. It comprises the 33,000 square-foot property designed by architect Richard Landry, and ornate Roman-style columns, wooden floors, marble tiles, and crystal chandeliers are featured throughout the home. The estate includes a three-story guest-house, with two gyms and a swimming pool.

'Happy grandad'

The mansion has a five-a-side football pitch, with the crest of Rod's Beloved Celtic Football Club emblazoned on the grass. At the time of purchase, Rod was married to ex-wife Rachel Hunter and kept entertainment as the top priority while designing, as reported by The Mirror.

This year, Rod Stewart also became a grandfather and shared his joy on social media. He posted a photo of the happy occasion on Instagram, welcoming Otis and Louie. He captioned it, "Happy grandad." Stewart is counted among the most celebrated vocalists in the modern world in the past 60 years. The rock icon has over 250 million records sold all over and is admired for his unique raspy voice.
