Richard Wershe: Former FBI informant 'White Boy Rick' arrested in Miami for assaulting girlfriend

MIAMI, FLORIDA: Richard Wershe, also known as 'White Boy Rick' and the youngest FBI informant ever, was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 10, after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a sexual encounter. The incident reportedly occurred in his Miami condo when the woman became angry after Wershe called her by the wrong name.

According to the police report, Wershe, 53, then ripped off her diamond necklace and bracelet when she attempted to leave. White Boy Rick's life story was the inspiration for the 2018 movie of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey.

'White Boy Rick' was arrested for allegedly punching girlfriend

According to officials, Wershe's girlfriend threw a shoe at him during the altercation, leading him to punch her in the chest. She claims to have a witness who can confirm her account, although it is unclear who the witness is or why they were present. Wershe's girlfriend, who has been in a relationship with him for four years, was hesitant to report the incident earlier due to her immigration status. She sustained bruises as a result of the incident.

'She filed a fake report that he punched her'

According to WXYZ Detroit, Wershe's lawyer, Nabih Ayad, stated that his client denies the allegations and claims that the incident occurred after Wershe asked his girlfriend to return a watch he had given her. Ayed further stated that there are text messages that support Wershe's version of events. "This individual robbed him. When he told her bring back my watch, she refused. When he told her bring back my watch or I’m going to the police, she beat him to the punch and filed a fake report that he punched her. It’s unfortunate and we have text messages to that effect. We intend to file a motion to dismiss for lack of probable cause and show the court this was a fake police report that was made and this individual indeed robbed him as opposed to being a victim," Ayad said.

When Wershe was arrested, he had $11,000 in cash, a Rolex watch, two gold necklaces, and Lamborghini keys with him. Wershe is facing robbery and battery charges and has been released on a $5,000 bond. Federal law protects undocumented victims of crime. In February, Wershe posted pictures with a woman named Michelle McDonald, whom he has known since the age of 12, and referred to her as his fiancee. They had known each other since high school.
