SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: NBCUniversal's head of advertising is apparently in talks with Elon Musk to become the next CEO of Twitter. This news comes just hours after Musk, who bought the company in October last year, announced that he had hired a woman for the position, without taking her name. Linda Yaccarino presently serves as the chair of global advertising and partnerships at NBCU and could soon be leaving NBCU where she worked for more than a decade to take up her new position in the social media company.

Musk previously tweeted, "Excited to announce that I've a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO (chief technology officer), overseeing product, software & sysops." The tech mogul has not yet disclosed the identity of the new CEO. Since buying the firm for $44 billion, Musk has fired almost 70 percent of Twitter's staff which even include its executive team.

Tesla's shares have seen a significant jump

Tesla's shares jumped more than 2 percent following Musk's announcement which shows that the investors might be pleased with his move. In April, a group of shareholders publicly requested the board to ensure that Musk invest more time in the company. The latter said they had become "increasingly concerned with governance and leadership issues at the company," as per the outlet.

Musk immediately made his mark after taking over Twitter on October 28 but his tenure as the company's owner has been filled with various controversies. He faced severe backlash for bringing those users back on Twitter who were previously banned and brought changes such as the Twitter Blue subscription.

'She’s very pretty'

Twitter users also reacted to the news. One user tweeted, "Sounds like she’s a money maker. That’s what Twitter needs. Who cares about what side she caters to. Congrats, Elon and Linda!" Another tweeted, "I was impressed with her Possible interview with Mr. Musk. She carried herself elegantly. She will be a great asset with much to bring to the table, if this is his choice." One user wrote, "She will find ways to get top talent streaming on Twitter and turn into the go to media platform. Goodbye biased network TV" while another said, "Yaccarino could be relaxing in a bubble bath somewhere unaware of anything happening." "She’s very pretty. Look’s matter, and she has a welcoming smile" tweeted one user.
