Kim Kardashian recalls Paris robbery, says she is glad it happened to her and not her sisters: 'Thank God it was me'

PARIS, FRANCE: Kim Kardashian recently revisited the terrifying nature of the robbery she encountered in Paris and felt glad that it happened to her and not her sisters. Kim and her mother Kris Jenner discussed the difficulties they have faced as a result of their notoriety during Thursday's new episode of 'The Kardashians' on June 29. The 42-year-old socialite's 2016 robbery in which she was seized at gunpoint in her Paris hotel was one of the instances when their fabulous lifestyles in the public eye brought more grief than joy.

"Do you remember when you were robbed in Paris?" Kris, 67, enquired her daughter. Kim was "tied up and thrown into a bathtub and the trauma of that?" the mother said as she described Kim's circumstances. Later, Kris remembered her daughter telling her, "Thank God it happened to me because if it had happened to anyone else, they wouldn't have been able to survive and it wouldn't have happened the same way." Kris was proud of how her daughter handled everything that happened.

The 42-year-old Kim was in complete agreement, adding, "When it was done, I was just like, thank God it was me and not one of my sisters because it would f--- them up for life." Again highlighting Kim's fortitude, Kris cried as she added, "I don't know anyone who could've handled what you did. I'm so proud of you, every single day, for the way that you live your life. I wish everybody knew how beautiful and delicious your heart is and they would never say one bad thing about you."

Revisiting Kim's Paris robbery incident

During Paris Fashion Week on October 3, 2016, the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' alum was held up at gunpoint at her hotel and had millions of dollars worth of property stolen from her in the dead of night, including a $4 million ring.

Kim had discussed the incident for the first time in a 2017 episode of 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians.' "They ask for money. I said I don't have any money," she said to her sisters in the segment. "They dragged me out onto the hallway on top of the stairs. That's when I saw the gun clear, like clear as day. I was kind of looking at the gun, looking down back at the stairs."

What was her reaction?

"Am I going to run down the stairs and either be shot in the back?" Kim thought as she continued. She had no time at all to make this snap decision. Even thinking about it upsets her greatly. "Either they're going to shoot me in the back, or if I make it and they don't, if the elevator does not open in time, or the stairs are locked, then, like, I'm f**ked. There's no way out," she added. According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Kim "managed to squeeze her hands out" of the plastic ties holding her wrists together "by wriggling her hands." She "screamed from the balcony" after escaping, a second source told the outlet.

Why did Kim stop buying jewelry?

Kim also talked about the robbery on 'The Kardashians' show last week on June 22, saying that the incident had affected the way she saw material possessions and that she hadn't purchased any new jewelry in seven years. "After I was robbed in Paris, I haven’t bought jewelry," she stated. "I haven’t really been about wearing jewelry, because when it was taken from me — I didn’t know I was ready for that experience of what that meant but I was — I was ready to give it up."
