LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Shakira, 46, and Drake, 36, have sparked romance rumors after leaving a West Hollywood party within minutes of each other.
An eyewitness revealed to Daily Mail that the Colombian songstress and the Canadian rapper were seen leaving the party “within minutes of one another at 3:25 am.”
The duo have, however, not been photographed together. While Shakira was looking gorgeous in a flaming orange top paired with jeans, the father-of-one looked dapper in a pair of jeans and cobalt blue jacket.
Why did Shakira and Gerard Pique split?
After 11 years of being in a relationship, Shakira and Gerard Pique split in June 2022. They released a joint statement saying, "We regret to confirm that we are separating."
The statement that was prepared by Shakira’s team read, "For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” per Insider.
Though, no reason was given initially, in October 2022, Shakira released her song ‘Monotonia’ where she sang in Spanish, "It wasn't your fault, it wasn't my fault / It was monotony's fault / I never said anything but it hurt / I knew this would happen."
Later, she continued, "Suddenly you were no longer the same / You left me because of your narcissism / You forgot what we were one day."
While none of the parties initially confirmed anything, there were rumors of Pique cheating on the mother of his two children.
In January 2023, the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer seemingly name-dropped the woman with whom Pique was linked and that led to their break up - Clara Chia Marti.
In the single ‘BZRP Music Session #53’ with Argentine hitmaker Bizarrap, Shakira sang about being betrayed by a former lover and included the “claramente” in the pre-chorus that sounded like Marti's name.
She also sang, "I'm worth two 22-year-olds / You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded in a Rolex for a Casio."
In January 2023, Pique went Instagram official with Clara Chia Marti after posting a cozied-up picture with the model.
Shakira dating history
Shakira's dating history is quite extensive as she dated a few A-list celebrities before her relationship with the Spanish soccer star.
Before her decade-long relationship with Pique, Shakira was in two relationships. Around 1997, when Shakira was just 20 years old, she fell in love with Osvaldo Ríos.
Later, the ‘Waka Waka’ singer was in a relationship with the son of former president of Argentina and lawyer Fernando de la Rúa, Antonio de la Rúa, from 2000 and 2010, per PopSugar.
After splitting with Pique in 2022, Shakira was linked with several superstars from different fields. She was linked with Tom Cruise, but a source said to US Weekly that Shakira "has no interest in dating the actor."
She was later linked with British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. Per Daily Mail, journalist Jodi Martin said they have a “beautiful relationship.”
Clarifying their relationship rumor, Martin said, “I would like to deny any information that has come out in a Catalan newspaper, where they say that Hamilton is tired of Shakira's attitude.”
The journalist continued, “I can categorically deny this information because I have spoken to Shakira's entourage and they confirm that between Shakira and Hamilton, there has always been a beautiful friendship.”
She continued to propound the theory that the pair are becoming more than friends, saying, “And that, between them there has been something more than friendship.”
“The two knew very clearly that there was nothing serious and that there was total freedom between them to do whatever they wanted,” continued Martin.
Drake dating history
Drake has a dating history that is quite vast and includes many Hollywood celebrities. In an interview with Howard Stern, Drake once admitted to being a certified lover boy as he dated four or five women at the same time.
He said, "I get in this habit of dating like four or five women to make one woman because I like these two things about each girl, and then I like what this girl does for a living."
However, he added that he is "sure he could" get married when the time is right. "Hopefully, I'll find somebody. The biggest thing is I need to be inspired," he said.
"I think that eventually, once all this is said and done for us — that addiction of work and success and forward movement is over I feel like we're all going to need something real. Hopefully, it's not too late," said the Canadian-born singer.
While Drake is extremely private regarding his dating life, fans can get a fair idea about his dating history from his songs as he often peppers them with the names of his flings.
Drake revealed dating the ‘Prom’ singer SZA in the late 2000’s in his October 2021 single ‘Mr Right Now’ where he sang, "Yeah, said she wanna f--- to some SZA, wait / 'Cause I used to date SZA back in '08.”
After having a short affair with a woman named Ericka Lee, the ‘Redemption’ singer went on dates with Kat Dennings and Tyra Banks, per People.
One of his most high-profile rumored romance was with Rihanna, and the pair allegedly dated on and off for 10 years after getting linked for the first time in 2009.
Drake was later related to two other high-profile celebrities - Hailey Bieber and Jennifer Lopez. Lopez and the ‘Rich Flex’ singer even posted the same cuddling snap on their individual Instagram handles during the winter of 2016-17.
