Is Morgan Freeman OK? Pals fear Hollywood legend is 'wasting away' after 25-lb weight loss

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Morgan Freeman's weight loss of almost 25 pounds has raised concerns among his friends that the actor's health might be deteriorating to a crisis point. After his appearance at a recent event, his friends are worried the legend is "wasting away."

According to RadarOnline.com, the Oscar-winning actor, who was already slender, displayed an unsettlingly gaunt appearance during his attendance at the Oceana's SeaChange event on July 22. At the event, Freeman was recognized for his dedication to conservation.

How old is Morgan Freeman?

One of the most revered figures in Hollywood, Freeman was born on June 1, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee. He is currently 86 years old. Morgan Freeman's parents were Mayme Edna (Revere), who worked as a teacher, and Morgan Porterfield Freeman, who was a barber.

Before making a career out of acting, Freeman worked as a radar repairman for the US Air Force between 1955 and 1959.

He has been through two marriages, initially with Jeanette Bradshaw from 1967 to 1979 and then with Myrna Colley-Lee from 1984 to 2010.

The second marriage resulted in the birth of four children, and he also fulfilled a parenting role for his step-granddaughter from his first marriage, E'dena Hines. Tragically, E'dena Hines was murdered in New York City in 2015 at the age of 33.

What is Morgan Freeman's health condition?

According to The Mirror, Morgan was dealing with a contagious infection that prevented him from traveling. He's fully recovered now, as the infection has cleared, and he is no longer contagious.

Due to the illness, the star of 'The Shawshank Redemption' decided to stay at his home in the US to prevent the risk of spreading the infection to others while traveling. However, the specific nature of the illness has not been officially confirmed.

Morgan Freeman's struggle with fibromyalgia

After a car accident in 2008, Morgan has grappled with fibromyalgia, a condition described by the Mayo Clinic as a "disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues."

The disorder can develop following events such as physical trauma, surgery, infection, or significant psychological stress.

Following a car crash that injured his left shoulder, arm, and elbow, the Hollywood star underwent a four-hour surgery due to nerve damage. In the ongoing management of his condition, Morgan uses a compression glove on the affected arm to improve blood circulation.
