Is Madonna's Celebration Tour cancelled? Manager says replanning concert would be 'logistical nightmare'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'Queen of Pop' Madonna may have to dramatically scale back her upcoming seven-month-long world tour following her recent health scare, inside sources have claimed. The 'Madame X' creator was reportedly set to begin a taxing concert schedule in two weeks but plans are now allegedly being withdrawn after the pop star suffered from a "serious bacterial infection" and spent several days in the ICU.

A source told the Daily Mail that concerned individuals might cut down the number of shows from 84 if Madonna's 40th-anniversary Celebration Tour moves forward after recovery. However, a tour manager told the publication that replanning the tour would be a "logistical nightmare," especially in terms of finding available venues to conduct shows. Meanwhile, recent reports revealed that the singer was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, June 29, and was reportedly "in the clear," as per BBC.

'This schedule would be gruelling'

Following the latest speculation, another insider told the Daily Mail, "In the cold light of day, considering what Madonna has just been through, and considering she is 64, was it really sensible to book so many tour dates in the first place?" They further added, "This schedule would be gruelling for even the youngest and fittest of artists. More than 70 gigs across the world is extreme. Madonna and her team are going to have to consider cutting back on the schedule."

Madonna's Celebration Tour was scheduled to begin on July 15, 2023, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. The tour was set to end on January 30, 2024, at the Palacio de los Deportes, in Mexico City, Mexico. However, after the singer ended up in the ICU due to a health scare, her manager took to Instagram to inform, in part, "At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour." Oseary further added, "We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."

'Madonna NEEDS to take care of her health FIRST'

Several fans took to Facebook to react to the news of the possibility of Madonna's shows being scaled back amid her medical struggle. "Understood...Madonna NEEDS to take care of her health FIRST! Everything else can and should wait....she's getting older now but her music is still impeccable. Got people of that generation STILL listening to it today because that was REAL TALENT and REAL MUSIC!!!!...Glad I came from that era to enjoy it!" one wrote. "She needs to health wise she can’t go do 70-80 venues tours anytime soon," added another.

"I think its time she stepped back from the limelight and actually enjoyed her life," a third commented. One said, "I thought especially with how many madam x concerts were cancelled that Madonna would not be able to do a 84 date world tour she is nearly 65 and can no longer intensely tour like she once did age is catching up with her I think the Celebration tour should be her last" while another added, "Thank goodness the woman is now waking up to reality. You can't push an aging body far to the edge and not encounter a knock on effect that could be fatal. Look at MJ and Prince. Easy does it Madge."
