Is George Stephanopoulos OK? ‘GMA’ host takes sudden break from show as Robin Roberts and Michael Strahan return

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ doesn’t always feel the same if any of its daytime anchors that hold the fort during the week are missing from the show. Whether it’s Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, or George Stephanopoulos, if any one of them is absent, the fans are quick to miss them and question their absence.

Turns out that after Strahan’s continued leave of absence, it’s George who has now decided to miss the morning show. During Monday's (July 31) broadcast of the morning show, the 62-year-old political commentator was missing from his seat in the studio. But the co-host, Robin and Michael didn’t heed any explanation about George’s absence, nor did George’s social media give any reason for the same.

Is George Stephanopoulos OK?

George usually has an outstanding record of not taking much time off the studio. Instead in the continued absence of Strahan and the small absences of Roberts, George is the one who leads from the front and anchors the entire show along with others. However, on Monday, it was Robin and Michael who returned to the frontlines of the studio. George’s absence was felt but no reason was further explained or given to detail his non-appearance. Instead, he was replaced by weekend anchor and another fan favorite, Whit Johnson. However, one thing’s assured there’s no reason to believe that George is currently in peril.

Whit appeared with Robin Roberts, and Michael Strahan, as they sat behind the newsdesk. On July 28, George was last seen with his co-hosts as they bid farewell to their colleague, Scott Snyder, who spent over four decades at the ABC network. He said at the time, "We want to say goodbye and thank you to Scott Snyder.” The entire room burst into applause for the camera operator, who was retiring after 44 years with ABC. George boasted about how his colleague "starts every day with a smile," before asking Scott to show his famous grin at the camera.

George Stephanopoulos' extracurricular gig off ‘GMA’

George runs a production company with his wife Ali Wentworth named BedBy8 Productions which is soloed focused on scripted television projects. The company produced a documentary called ‘Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields’ featuring the life and times of celebrated actress Brooke Shields. The film recently received an Emmy nomination and George and Ali were recognized for all their efforts that went into producing the film. Their next venture is kept under wraps but it’s given that after the success of ‘Pretty Baby,’ George and Ali will be returning with a new production soon.
