Is Bad Bunny gay? Rapper once said he views sexuality as ‘fluid’ amid Kendall Jenner rumors

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has been four months since rumors about a romance between Bad Bunny and Kendall Jenner started doing the rounds after they were spotted together in Beverly Hills in February. The latest speculation surrounding their relationship suggested that the rapper may also make an appearance on the Hulu reality show, ‘The Kardashians'.

The speculation about Bunny’s appearance in the show comes after sources told ET Online that the pair were getting “more serious” and the former was even spending time with Jenner’s family. “He is not only spending more time with Kendall, but with the rest of the family as well,” sources alleged. The rapper was even spotted spending time with Kendall's sister, Kim Kardashian, at the 2023 Met Gala. While Bunny has mostly kept his private life under wraps, the musician has often made news for rumors surrounding his alleged relationships as well as his sexuality.

Is Bad Bunny gay?

Back in 2020, Bunny made headlines for his support towards the LGBTQIA+ community. Ricky Martin, who came out as gay in 2010, told Rolling Stone that Bunny had become “an icon for the Latin queer community” with the release of his music video ‘Yo Perreo Sola’ (‘I Twerk Alone’), in which he embraced a drag persona. In 2019, the rapper publicly called out reggaeton star Don Omar for making comments against the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Homophobia in this day and age? How embarrassing, man,” Bunny tweeted at the time. The musician was also lauded for speaking out against the murder of Puerto Rico trans woman Alexa Negron Luciano during a 2020 appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'. The rapper made a statement by wearing a shirt that read, “Mataron a Alexa, no a un hombre con falda,” which translates to, “They killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt.” He paired the t-shirt with a black skirt and dangling earrings.

Soon enough, the public interest related to Bunny’s support towards the LGBTQIA+ community shifted to his personal life. Fans of the artiste began to speculate if the rapper identified as a member of the community. While the ‘Soy Peor’ hitmaker never identified as gay, he once told the Los Angeles Times that he views sexuality as “fluid.” “It does not define me,” he said during the 2020 interview, adding, “At the end of the day, I don’t know if in 20 years I will like a man. One never knows in life. But at the moment I am heterosexual and I like women."

While speaking about his decision of including same-sex couples, transgender women and people with disabilities in his music videos, the singer said, “There are people who listen to reggaeton and love it and at the same time they have never felt represented within it. In 20 or 30 years nobody had worried about that, but I did.” He reiterated the same sentiment during his Rolling Stone interview and even went on to declare that he “might not be gay.” “I did it to show support to those who need it. I may not be gay, but I’m a human,” he told the publication while speaking about embracing drag for his ‘Yo Perreo Sola’ music video. “I always felt like there [was] a part of me that is very feminine. But I never felt as masculine as I did the day I dressed up like a drag queen,” Bunny added.

While Bunny made waves by kissing a male backup dancer as part of his performance in ‘Titi Me Pregunto’ at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, where he became the first-ever non-English artiste to win an Artist of the Year award, the rapper has only been publicly linked to women.

Who has Bad Bunny dated?

Bunny was reportedly in a relationship with attorney Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez in 2011. The duo even studied together at the University of Puerto Rico. However, Hernandez recently sued the rapper for unauthorized use of her voice in his songs. The lawyer filed a lawsuit claiming that the musician used a recording of her saying, “Bad Bunny, baby,” in his 2016 track ‘Pa Ti’ and 2022 number ‘Dos Mil 16.’ She is seeking $40M as part of the lawsuit. The ex-couple reportedly dated for five years and parted in 2017.

Bunny was linked to rapper Cazzu in 2019 after a photo of them kissing onstage at Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires went viral. However, the latter denied they were dating during an interview and said they were friends who only “shared some moments together.” “I don’t really know what happened, it was all very weird, but we practically forgot that there were 8,000 people in front of us,” Cazzu said, referring to the kiss. “But yeah we had good energy and we became friends. Good friends,” she added.

Bunny reportedly started dating model and jewelry designer Gabriela Berlingeri in 2017. The latter was credited as a vocalist in Bunny’s song ‘En Casita’ in his surprise 2020 album, ‘Las Que No Iban a Salir.’ She had also been featured in some of the rapper’s music videos. Bunny made his red carpet debut with Berlingeri at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in September 2021. That same year, the duo sparked engagement rumors after Berlingeri was seen wearing a diamond ring.

Bunny and the designer seemingly parted ways by 2022 as they stopped making appearances together and even vanished from each other’s social media accounts. Bunny’s most recent rumored romance involves Jenner. After their initial Beverly Hills outing, the pair were seen together on another date in West Hollywood in March. The duo were also photographed horseback riding together in April before Jenner cheered on her new beau as he performed onstage in Coachella. While the couple made separate entries at the 2023 Met Gala, they were later seen arriving at the Ritz-Carlton hotel together for the after party.
