LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande may have moved on from her estranged husband Dalton Gomez, but she still wants to wish him a happy birthday. The pop star, who is currently dating her 'Wicked' co-star Ethan Slater plans to reach out to Gomez on his 28th birthday on Monday, August 7, as per reports.
Sources told Us Weekly, “Ariana plans on reaching out to Dalton to wish him a happy birthday, but she has no plans of celebrating with him,” the insider says. “Ariana has no hard feelings about their split, but she’s trying to focus on moving forward and doesn’t want to bring up old feelings. She wishes him nothing but the best and hopes he has a wonderful birthday.”
Is Ariana Grande trying to reconcile with Dalton Gomez?
Grande, 30, and Gomez, a real estate agent, tied the knot in May 2021 after getting engaged in December 2020. However, their marriage did not last long as several publications reported they had separated after two years of marriage. “Ariana and Dalton have been having some issues for months now,” a source told the publication at the time. “They were having issues before she left for 'Wicked' filming [in London] that they couldn’t resolve, and the distance did not help.”
The 'Thank U, Next' singer has since moved on with Slater, 31, who is best known for portraying SpongeBob SquarePants in the Broadway musical of the same name. Slater filed for divorce from his wife of three years Lilly Jay on July 26. The pair, who were high school sweethearts, share a son who was born in January 2023.
'My family is just collateral damage'
“Ariana and Ethan are dating; however things are fairly new. Ariana and Dalton split in January, and Ethan is separated from his wife,” one more source told the publication last month. He added, “Ariana and Ethan have only recently begun seeing each other but they have a lot of fun together and are enjoying each other’s company.” Although neither Grande nor Slater has publicly addressed their romance, Jay slammed her estranged husband’s new relationship while speaking to Page Six last month. “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage,” she said at the time. “The story is her and Dalton.”
Gomez is still hoping for reconciliation with Grande
Gomez, meanwhile, is still hoping for reconciliation with Grande, in July. “Although Dalton knows Ariana has moved on with Ethan, he still hasn’t given up hope that they can make things work. On one hand, Dalton wants to give Ariana her space, but on the other, he’s been trying to remain in contact with her,” the insider said. The publication reported, citing another source, that Ariana has been advised not to go public as it is "very soon" and has been suggested not to spend time in the public gaze.
However, Daily Mail laid bare the romance the pair was having. In a report on August 3, it said that Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Ethan Slater went on 'multiple double dates' with their respective spouses. "They were sloppy on set," an insider told the outlet about Ariana and Ethan. "They were seen being all over each other while he was still supposedly happily married to Lilly. They were seen making out at a pub in Hampstead and they were all over each other at Michelle Yeoh's Oscar party [in March]."
