'I miss her terribly': Caitlyn Jenner pays moving tribute to mother Esther at memorial service

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Caitlyn Jenner paid a moving tribute to her late mother Esther Jenner in an Instagram post. On Friday, May 26, the former Olympic gold medalist shared a picture from Esther’s funeral. “I spoke at my mom's memorial service yesterday. It was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. I miss her terribly every day. She is loved and missed and in a better place,” she captioned the post.

Jenner’s son Brandon was quick to comment, “An amazing woman. So glad I got to say a last goodbye over the phone,” he wrote. “I’ll remember many moments, but, one of my favorites will always be when she told me, among the billowing smoke in her condo, ‘it’s not the cigarettes that will kill you, it’s the filters that will kill you.’” The 41-year-old concluded, “She rolled her own her whole life till 96 years old. She may have been on to something? See you in the other side Grandma. ❤️”

'Love you, mom'

Jenner announced the death of her mother Esther on Instagram. She died on April 20 at the age of 96. "I am heartbroken to announce that my mom passed away yesterday morning, peacefully. Losing a mother is unique in the sense that she is the only person that loved me my entire life,” she wrote. "I will miss her tremendously. She was a few weeks shy of 97 and lived a full life. Love you, mom," according to People.

'The stigma of being different goes away'

Esther was frequently seen on 'I Am Cait,' the docu-series that chronicled Caitlyn's experiences as a transgender woman. "It seems as though when people start to have more understanding, the stigma of being different goes away," Esther said in one episode of the show, as per ET. "To me, that's the beauty of [Caitlyn] giving herself permission to do this because—like for any of us—once you've seen something over and over again, you get more used to it, right?"
