FOLLY BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA: A devastating car crash that resulted in the death of Samantha Hutchinson, 34, a newlywed bride, has left a community in shock and mourning. Jamie Lee Komoroski, the alleged drunk driver responsible for the accident, had a blood alcohol concentration level more than three times the legal limit.

Komoroski, 25, collided with the golf cart being driven by Samantha and her husband Aric Hutchinson, throwing them at a distance of 91 meters on Folly Beach, South Carolina. In this horrifying incident, the bride lost her life, while the groom sustained a brain injury and multiple broken bones. The 25-year-old was so heavily intoxicated at the time, telling responding officers, “All the sudden something hit me,” and repeatedly saying, “I did nothing wrong,” according to the incident report.

'Jamie Lee Komoroski high blood alcohol concentration'

According to a toxicology report obtained from South Carolina police, Komoroski registered a staggering blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level of 0.261 at the time of the accident, well above the legal limit. Responding officers noted that Komoroski appeared disoriented and confused, claiming innocence by repeatedly stating, "I did nothing wrong," reported New York Post. The former taco eatery waitress admitted to having two drinks an hour before the accident, a beer and a tequila pineapple.

However, when officers attempted to administer a sobriety test, Komoroski vehemently refused and attempted to shield her eyes from them while calling out for her boyfriend. Witnesses observed her exhibiting behavior consistent with an impaired state. Furthermore, when asked about her level of intoxication on a scale from one to ten, she muttered that she was at an eight before requesting legal representation.

During the interaction with law enforcement, Komoroski displayed physical impairments, struggling to maintain her balance when assisted out of her vehicle. Despite her evident difficulties, she insisted she was fine. Sergeant Zac Halpern, the reporting officer, documented that Komoroski appeared dazed, alternately calling for her boyfriend and reacting emotionally upon seeing the wreckage. Her confused state persisted even during her arrest, as Halpern had to repeat his explanation multiple times before she complied. “This is a clear indication of someone who is intoxicated; is to repeat over and over, after their question has already been answered,” Halpern wrote in the report.

'The tragic aftermath'

Komoroski, who escaped the crash without injuries, now faces serious charges. She has been charged with three counts of DUI involving death or serious bodily injury, as well as reckless homicide. Despite her request for a bond, she remains incarcerated in North Charleston pending further legal proceedings. As a result of the collision, Samantha tragically lost her life at the scene, still adorned in her wedding dress. Her husband, Hutchinson, underwent two surgeries and was recently released from the hospital on May 4th.
