AUSTIN, TEXAS: 'Days of Our Lives' actor Cody Longo's official cause of death has been revealed four months after his tragic death, shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding his death. An autopsy determined that the 34-year-old actor died as a result of alcohol abuse.

The report from TMZ cited "chronic ethanol abuse" as the cause. The room where he was discovered was strewn with empty alcohol bottles and the autopsy revealed that the body had already started to decay by the time it was discovered.

'Thankful for the beautiful babies we created'

Police in Austin, Texas, discovered Longo's body on February 8 while conducting a welfare check after receiving a request from his wife Stephanie. "On Father's Day, Longo's widow paid tribute to him in her Instagram stories, sharing photos of him with their three children, Lyla, seven, Elijah, five, and Noah, two. 'Celebrating Cody in heaven. Thankful for the beautiful moments we created and the beautiful babies we created,' she wrote."

'Our whole world is shattered'

A family source told TMZ at the time of his death that the actor had suffered from alcoholism for many years and had recently entered treatment. His wife reportedly shared with the website, saying, "He was an amazing father and the best husband. Our whole world is shattered.'" Longo was born on March 4, 1988, in Littleton, Colorado. He, as per Daily Mail, started his career in show business by appearing in a number of music videos before making his big screen debut in the 2008 film 'Ball Don't Lie'. The late actor went on to appear in supporting roles in various features over the following years, including 'Fame and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish.'

'Hollywood Heights' was Cody's longest-running project

Longo appeared as Nicholas Alamain in eight episodes of 'Days of Our Lives', all of which aired in 2011. The family drama series 'Hollywood Heights,' which simultaneously debuted and ended in 2012, was the actor's longest-running project. In the sitcom, Longo played the role of Eddie Duran and appeared in 78 of the show's 80 episodes, along with Brittany Underwood and Melissa Ordway. After the show ended, the actor had many brief television appearances in episodes of Nashville and Secrets and Lies, among other programs.

Longo taken into custody on a charge of domestic abuse

Following the cancellation of the program, he appeared in a lot of films, including 'Rich Boy,' 'Rich Girl,' 'The Last Movie Star,' and 'Death House.' In the 2019 movie 'Starting Up Love,' Longo made his most recent screen appearance. The 2020 Apple Podcast series 'High School Crimes & Misdemeanors' also features the actor as a voice actor. But the following year, following what was apparently a confrontation with his wife, he was taken into custody on a charge of domestic abuse. In 2021, following his accusation of sexually abusing a nine-year-old child, Longo entered a plea for a minor assault offense. The performer passed away while working on the 'Do You Want to Die' in Indio film, which was directed by David Moreton.
