Britney Spears slams production house for releasing documentary on her post-conservatorship life, says media has always been cruel to her

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears spoke out against a newly-released documentary by TMZ that examined her life after November 2021 when she was freed from her conservatorship. On Monday, May 15, 'Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom' aired on FOX and it showed that her alleged mental health has lost track as she poses a physical threat to her husband Sam Asghari, and herself.

The documentary also pointed out that for over a year, Spears has not spoken with her children Jayden Federline, 16, and Sean Preston Federline, 17. On Thursday, May 18, the singer slammed the production house on Instagram following the documentary's release. "The concern and just effort on TMZ’s part of being the trashiest news channel for news. These men who I have no idea who they are, talking about me as if they have any right at all to do so," she wrote.

'The media has always been cruel to me'

Claiming that she has always been treated worse by the media, Spears said, "The media has always been cruel to me and most people probably wouldn’t even comment on it but I do think some people might believe this and I care." The songwriter thinks "some people are wanting to hear my story" but that it may take the pop star "a year, maybe longer" to put it out herself.

A day before the controversial documentary was aired, Asghari accused people of exploiting his wife in the media. On May 14, the singer's husband took to Instagram to respond to the production airing the TV special. "The last thing I want to do is speak on my wife's behalf," he said. The statement was then re-uploaded onto a Twitter account @PopCrave.

'I respect her privacy'

"I would never do that. I respect her privacy. That's why I don't talk as much, and I find it absolutely disgusting for the people that were in her life at the time when she didn't have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs," Asghari said. He also asked people not to believe online news about Spears as he described those as clickbait "99% of the time."

The documentary by TMZ featured reporters from their production, Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, and physicians Dr Drew Pinsky and Dr Charles Sophy who have not treated the singer, according to USA Today.
