Brian Szasz: Stepson of billionaire Hamish Harding says he's 'not sorry' for attending Blink-182 concert amid Titan submersible search ops

NEWFOUNDLAND, CANADA: Brian Szansz, the stepson of the missing Titanic submersible billionaire Hamish Harding, reacted to the backlash he received after attending the Blink-182 concert in San Diego on Monday, June 19. He attended the concert on the same day the sub carrying his stepfather and four others lost signal with a support ship during their mission to explore the Titanic wreckage.

The stepson revealed Harding was among the crew aboard the OceanGate Expeditions' 'Titan' submersible that has been missing in his since-deleted Facebook post. "Hamish my stepdad is lost in a submarine. Thoughts and prayers that the rescue mission will be successful," Szasz wrote in the post.

'This band has helped me through hard times since 1998'

On the same day, he updated that his stepfather is one of the passengers in the missing submersible, Szasz posted a picture of the concert venue where Blink was playing. "It might be distasteful being here but my family would want me to be at the Blink-182 show as it's my favorite band and music helps me in difficult times!", he wrote defending his decision in a post he shared later.

"Yes, I went to @blink-182 last night. What am I supposed to do sit at home and watch the news? Not sorry this band has helped me through hard times since 1998," Szaszx captioned the photo from the concert that he shared on his Instagram Story on Tuesday, June 20.

In another post on Tuesday, he explained that his mother requested him to remove the posts related to the Blink-182 concert. "For privacy, my mom asked me to delete all related posts thanks for the support," Szasz wrote, according to ET Online.

Cardi B criticized Szasz's concert outing

Among many critics, Cardi B came forward to share what she felt about Szasz attending the concert amid the search for his stepfather. "People is like, 'Well what is he supposed to do? Be sad at the house? Is he supposed to go look for himself?' Yes," the singer said in her Instagram Story.

"You supposed to be at the house sad. You're supposed to be crying for me. You supposed to be right next to the phone waiting to hear any updates about me," Cardi B said and added, "Isn't it sad that you a whole f*****g billionaire and nobody gives a f**k about you? "That's crazy. I'd rather be broke. I'd rather be broke and poor, but knowing that I'm loved."

British billionaire Harding, French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his teenage son, Suleman, and Oceangate CEO Stockton Rush are the passengers of OceanGate's 22-foot vessel that began its exploration on Sunday, June 18. The US and Canadian crews are currently continuing the search for the vessel.
